Summary
Usually I was in long term mining installations, where everyone hated being there and were one late shipment of synthetic fruit snacks away from stabbing each other. This was, by my standards, an extremely fancy place. The floors were cleaned, there were decorations on the walls, people complained when there was minor signal interference, and 91% of human on human conflict hadn't escalated beyond raised voices.
Maybe I should have known something was coming, because I would never be that lucky.

Summary
As part of the bond agreement, PreservationAux is supposed be issued a standard rental SecUnit, all parts and systems functioning, and that's exactly what they get. The planet may have undocumented and deadly fauna, glitches and equipment failure may be mounting, but at least they don't have to deal with a rogue SecUnit on top of everything.

There’s a fractional pause. The SecUnit’s head tilts—not inquisitive, more like a sensor recalibrating after unexpected input.
“Yes. Actually, you do. But that’s not the question.”
The answer is flat, almost bored. For him, that chills his blood.Or: a person from Murderbot's past encounters it. It doesn't end well for anyone, really.
