Two years after Vecna's final demise, and the gates having been sealed, Steve made a difficult decision. He moved away from Hawkins to work for his dad's company. it wasn't really his own decision, but his parent's.
When he gets a voice message from Henderson where in he tells Steve to stay away from Hawkins, Steve doesn't hesitate to disobey that order and finds himself driving from New York to his old home-town back in Indiana to safe the day.
