“Mmm. And how often did you raise your voice like that, in that vault o’ yours? How often did anyone?”
Lucy opens her mouth to tell him no one would ever do that, but she promptly closes it instead. Looks down at 404 and buries her hands in her fur to stop their shaking. Was that what kept them all getting along? Not the peace of security, the comfort of food, the ease of clean water and a soft place to sleep?
