Summary
Jerusalem had fallen. Now, on top of the indignity of having to walk - walk! - to Alexandria to avoid getting shot out of the sky, Yusuf al-Kaysani has the double misfortune of being saddled with a filthy, empty-headed, exasperating Frank who doesn't even seem to know what his wings are for.
But after an explosion of temper reveals something about his enemy that Yusuf could never have fathomed in a thousand years, Yusuf finds himself looking at his companion in a whole new light. Suddenly tasked with helping Nicolo achieve a dream, an unexpected spark of compassion is born, that leads to forgiveness, to friendship, to all and more.
Every love story is a kind of dance.
Or - Yusuf and Nicolo live in a world where everyone has wings. It changes a lot about their world, and nothing about them.

Summary
"I want to go back to Jerusalem. It's where all this started," Nicolo says.
"You mean where we first killed eachother," Yusuf says.
"I thought that it was my destiny to kill you," the priest says, honestly, holding his gaze, "when I did, you took me with you, and during those last breaths I thought I'd fulfilled my purpose."
"Usually that would have been the end of it," Yusuf says, close to humour, but not quite there.
"It would," he agrees. "I can't help but wonder if there's where this will end," Nicolo says.
"You believe returning to Jerusalem will make us mortals again? I thought you had found some solace away from the conflicts."
"I won't find peace in distance, if I don't find it within myself first. I need to go to Jerusalem to ask for forgiveness."
Yusuf shoots him a sad smile. The fondness in it is missed completely. "If you think going to Jerusalem will help you find peace, I'll follow you."

Summary
When Joe meets Nicky, it's love at first sight--at least until it becomes abundantly clear that Nicky hates him, for no reason at all. For lack of any better ideas, Joe decides to be the bigger man, suck it up, and just be polite when their social circle forces them to interact.
Of course, that would be easier if Nicky's daemon wasn't literally the sweetest, warmest, kindest, most wonderful daemon in the world.
How, exactly, does an asshole like Nicky wind up with a daemon like that?

Summary
Vampire hunting isn't what it used to be. So here Joe is, nine-hundred years old, spending his Friday night wandering the live-donor clubs, checking permits and kicking out vamps with only a few decades under their belt who still think flashing fang in public is cute.
Until Joe turns the corner into the alley and sees Nicoló di fucking Genova himself, fang out, glaring at the silver fence surrounding him and looking about two seconds away from actually drinking a five-day-old pig. Joe he should have just called it a night. He’s clearly hallucinating.
