There’s something wrong with the room when Bob pushes the door open. Bed made, everything in its place, well, almost everything. Though she was a light packer by nature and by necessity, Yelana always had a penchant for nick-nacs. He doesn’t need to check the closet to know it’s empty. Even if it wasn’t, clothes are replaceable, her trinkets aren’t and so their absence is all he needs to confirm what he already knows. She’s gone.
Or, after a year of being an Avenger, Yelena Belova leaves without a word and Bob is left trying to figure out where everything went wrong.

Bob has had the most support he’s ever had in his life, living in the Watchtower. Still, he’s struggling with the realization that the power of the Sentry and the destruction of the Void are a package deal, and finally decides that he has to stop being both. Being around the New Avengers only makes his desire to be useful a burning need.
Yelena loves the team, and she’s proud of how she’s stepped up as a leader, but unlike the original Avengers, being the New Avengers came in with all sorts of strings she wasn’t prepared for. Also, the person she’s been the most herself with in the world doesn’t remember any of their most powerful conversations.
Both of their lives have improved so much. With their pasts, they shouldn’t have anything to complain about. Still, they’re not sure how they can go forward from here.
Until Yelena comes in with a proposal: “Would you like to go to couples counselling with me? I think we could trick a therapist."
