Summary
The gunshot was the only part hard to explain, but he managed to come up with a plausible story. It got reported, of course, but the police were already dealing with a situation involving multiple shooters, a missile and a building collapse right next to Times Square, and the wounded were trickling into the hospital, both people who’d been too close to the site and rescuers who tried to find any survivors.
And that wasn’t even counting the effects of the virus across the globe. In all the chaos, it was easy to slip free.

Summary
Time cannot be borrowed. The concept of borrowing implies that the borrowed item is temporarily removed from where it is borrowed, and that is simply not applicable. Time is not a finite resource, even though with the limited human perception of it, it can easily appear as such; therefore, to borrow it does not detract from the infinity of it, even if one adds the not-exactly-borrowed amount back into the system at the desired place.

Summary
Something breaks in him in that triage room. The high-pitched whine of the heart monitor replaces Nathan’s heartbeat, and something in Harold shatters, runs out of him like his blood between his fingers where he cups his neck as he slowly, painstakingly gets up. The world has always been refracted into different pictures through the facets of his mind but it was Nathan, always Nathan providing him with a true north, the pattern to which he knows to reset the kaleidoscope. Or perhaps, the main incentive for such a reset.
His mind is already turning again, assessing everything he knows about the people who murdered Nathan in a new light, a new facet, a new pattern through the kaleidoscope.
They broke him, and in return, he breaks his own rules.
Or: After losing Nathan, instead of reassessing his morals and becoming a better person, Harold abandons a lot of them.

Summary
Two cities are on fire -- one literally, one symbolically.
Two men (Tony Stark and Harold Finch) are trying to put out those fires. With a chronic lack of time, resources, and allies, the best they can do is offer a little emotional support across a quick interdimensional phone call.
This is a personal message to my readers from both major fandoms; even if you tend to avoid crossovers, I hope you'll at least read the notes.
