Summary
Serena Campbell's ex-husband is the Prime Minister of the UK, he's insisted that Serena be afforded the security detail she had while they were married, despite Serena's protests that she doesn't need to be babysat.
Bernie Wolfe left the army a year ago after an IED blew up her convoy, and she proceeded to blow up her life. She's since joined the PaDP and has just been assigned as Serena Campbell's new chief of security.
Bernie wants to do her job, regardless of Serena's feelings on the matter, and Serena wants to live her life without constant surveillance by Bernie and her team, and neither of them were counting on the undeniable attraction to each other that makes it difficult to remain steadfast in their goals.
**This is basically Above All Honor by Radclyffe but make it Berena, so if you've read that book/series, this will be VERY familiar**

She’s going to kiss me. The thought came suddenly, breaking through the internal berating she’d been doing before seeing the look on Bernie’s face. The words repeated themselves in Serena’s head. A surprisingly joyous exclamation even as physically, Serena felt every bit the proverbial deer in headlights watching Bernie’s head move, almost fall towards her and Serena’s eyes closed, heart stuttering with anticipation, knowing that in the next second Bernie was, very much, going to kiss her.

Her mind flicks back to the woman in the carpark, Serena Campbell, the way her whole body had lit up when Serena’s hand slid into hers. The newly found optimism for the day ahead crumbled in much the same way that Bernie did, letting her back hit the lockers and slide down until she was sat with her eyes pressed into her knees. She kept her right hand over her wrist and bit back a scream.
