Summary
Somewhere further in the courtyard, Lambert yells out a colourful curse while Ciri cackles maniacally. Eskel is taunting the former through his laughter, and Vesemir’s voice joins in with barked commands and corrections once the clang of steel against steel continues. Somewhere above them, on one of the balconies overlooking the yard, Geralt can hear the scratch of quill against parchment as Yennefer works on her correspondence, interrupted every now and again by the tapping of nails against an inkpot.
He realises what’s wrong an instant before everyone else grows suddenly, eerily still; Jaskier is quiet.

Unusually complex relationships. Very good, but sometimes difficult to follow who's talking, and lots of crying. The dynamic is very... "grown up", they have other lovers, there's no jealousy. Also they keep deceiving and tricking each other as they do in canon, it doesn't just go away because it's slash, and it's kind of messed up but emotionally realistic.

Well written, clever and emotional. The way Jaskier is the thing Geralt almost- remembers but J himself never thinks he's the important part of the memory 😭 Ending is a bit rushed for me, G becomes completely self aware and perfectly emotionally articulate suddenly and J just forgives everything and they have sex. But clearly a good writer!

The descent is fast, maybe even reckless, but Jaskier’s feeling numb and out-of-sorts anyways, Geralt’s words simmering in his mind, and at the time it doesn’t feel like he’s being pulled on by anything but his own desire to get away."
