Last time, he hadn't bled at all. Last time, he had disappeared into a wisp of smoke and petty words of promised vengeance. This time, he rolled over with a grunt. Glassy, jade eyes stared at the ceiling, unseeing. The gaping wound in his side stretched and sputtered under the effort of his movement. He seemed not to notice. He was still breathing.
