“You were in my way.” Their voice was confident and dry, though a bit reedy. Not enough to take away from the steadiness and grit, but enough to betray a higher level of youth than their looks would. It reminded him of… something. They looked up and narrowed their eyes at him. “Who are you?”
“I… I don’t know.” He hadn’t had the time to sit on that fact since gaining consciousness and facing their actively breaking ship. All he knew was that he woke up.
Who was he? Why were the two of them on a ship? What aspect of their space travel caused this lack of knowledge? And why did his skin feel wrong?
“Dammit,” the other person scrunched their face up in response. “I don’t know either.”
