Summary
That ‘occasional letter’ that Nightingale had requested of me for his running interference on my behalf with the old sticks at the Folly was turning out to be more than a little taxing. What with being seconded to amateur sleuths as their personal assistants. And now he expected me to file reports. Still a Berrycloth-Young laughs, or at least only moans quietly, in the face of adversity. He also asks for a good strong drink.

Summary
This is a reference guide intended to help writers of Regency-era stories by providing a quick place to check whether a certain phrase was in use in the era, and if so, how it was used. The earliest attestation dates of phrases that postdate the Regency era might also make this guide useful to writers of neo-Victorian fiction.

In the little town of Carbon Creek, the locals knew three things. The pie is best at Delilah’s but the coffee would strip paint. Mayor Perkins skipped town back in ‘51 because he got caught counting cards one too many times. And no other fiddle player could hold a candle to young Wayne Munson.

Because I write a lot of fiction set in the Enchanted Forest, I decided to make a map to make my life easier. This is the result of many hours of research and photoshop. Feel free to use it as you wish, but please give credit where it's due.
