Summary
(Quick update: I got sucked into Shaw/Seven over on Picard, and this story has been left unfinished for a long time. Given that and how much I did not like Season 2 of SNW, I am pretty sure I won't be finishing this one. So read knowing it's incomplete.)
So, as I've often said, it is not my habit to revisit stories. They end the way they end, and I'm usually more than happy with that OR I write sequels that upend things. But once before for a TOS fic ("Featured Attraction" and "We'll Pretend You Love Me") I took a story I'd done and changed one thing and let it go off in a completely different direction.
I am doing that again here. Read "Three's Company?" first because I do think it's important to know how the original ended. It is the truest version. But, if you want an AU version that explores whether this little trio might or might not work, read this. The first chapter is the exact same as the same parts in "Three's Company?" Start with chapter 2 if you've already read the first version of this story (the start of chapter 2 may seem the same but it is subtly different at first and then it is clearly different.)
