“Morning,” Rhaenyra murmured, voice rough with sleep. “You’re loud for someone trying to sneak away.”
Alicent almost dropped dead on the spot.
“I’m not-- I’m just-- you have to go.”
Rhaenyra propped herself on one elbow, the picture of sin trying to lounge. “Do I?”
“Yes,” Alicent hissed, waving a frantic hand at her. “My daughter will be here in...” she glanced at the clock “--fifteen minutes.”
That got her attention, but not in the way Alicent hoped.
Rhaenyra’s smile only deepened. “Oh. You’re a mother.”
Alicent swore she was allowed one night of bad decisions.
She did not plan for the babysitter to drop her toddler off at 8:00 AM after said night.Or for the woman she definitely shouldn’t have slept with to still be naked in her bed.

Alicent glared between the shelves. “I’m trying to work here.”
“Yeah, well,” a voice piped up. “Work is overrated.”
Alicent watched as a girl stepped around the shelf, silver hair tied back in an elaborate braid, snowy cashmere rising and falling with an exaggerated huff. Diamond studded earrings decorated her lobes, glittering in the stark lighting. It didn’t take a genius to know that this girl had absolutely no business being in a mass market retail store.
But here she was. Every godsdamn day, and Alicent couldn’t make sense of why the gods had cursed her so.
