Month of High Cold, 1820.
Freshly marked by The Outsider, Daud is making a name for himself in Dunwall. But even The Knife of Dunwall makes mistakes. When a job in Draper's Ward goes wrong, Daud finds himself stitching up a peculiar man who insists that the sutures on his arm would look exceptional on a jacket.
Daud entered Draper's Ward as an assassin, but when he leaves he is...something else. A cutter maybe. It is too early to know.

“Daud, my old friend. It’s been a long while, but you’ve got my interest again. Did you know there are only seven like you in the world, bearing my Mark? There was to be an eighth, but he breathed his last before I could grant him my boon, staring into the lifeless eyes of the only woman he ever loved.
“I’m here to give you your last gifts, Daud. The first is a mystery. One that starts with a name: Delilah. The second is this: the Heart of a living thing, moulded by my hands.”
Corvo Attano dies alongside his Empress. Now there is no one left to clean up the mess Daud left behind - except, perhaps, for Daud himself.

Summary
Newly landed in Karnaca and permanently retired, Daud realizes he had no plans for life after being the Knife of Dunwall. Though he finds a new place in his old city to disappear and settle down, soon, he finds himself restless - and unsure about someone he left behind. So, like any good former assassin, he decides to write - reflecting on life, death, the Outsider, the Whalers, the killing business, regret, and love.
