Summary
The war between the Shinigami and Quincy brings a very tragic turn to Ichigo's life. During the conflict, he doesn’t realize that the man he thought was his enemy is actually his soulmate. This becomes clear only when the man says the last word that carves itself onto Ichigo's inner wrists. As Aizen utters his final word, Ichigo watches him dying in front of him. It feels as if the breath has been knocked out of his lungs. Without thinking twice, Ichigo holds Aizen's dying body in his arms.
Everyone watches as Ichigo cradles Aizen's dead body, not understanding what is happening. They don't know that Ichigo's soulmate is now dead, and Ichigo himself only realizes it at that moment.
Inside his mind, Ichigo prays for one more chance, a chance to know this man. He wishes for Aizen to wake up, but he knows that won't happen. Ichigo wants to learn how to love this man and to know more about Aizen. The Hogyoku, sensing his desires, begins to glow in Aizen's chest. Suddenly, the last thing Ichigo hears is someone shouting his name.
