The room felt suffocating as she recalled Madara's boiling hot temper flowing into his chakra, lashing out in every direction, his screams ringing in her ears. -... your sister dead will be required for peace!- Tobirama can recall how Izuna lay unmoving on the ground, blood pooling beneath him, Hashirma yelling over everyone while she simply stood there first in shock, and then quiet resignation.

He does not dignify that with a response. Just stares at the hairline cracks in the wall as his imagination runs wild. He hears her shifting up the mattress and planting her feet. Her knees lift the blanket from his own body in a tent. After the initial shuffling of metal and plastic, there’s nothing. The room is silent except for Dogmeat’s panting and the faint hum of recycled air moving through the overhead vents. If he didn’t know exactly what she was doing, he’d be none the wiser. But he does know, and he’s harder than a hanged man.

They spend most of the day together; ostensibly talking strategy, but you see the way their touches linger. Even the way they look at each other like they’re the only two people in the world, as though everything else is just background noise.
But as the days pass, you realise something. When she’s not watching Quaritch with those bright, lamp-like eyes, she’s watching you.
