“Mr. Harry Potter,” the – well, Harry doesn’t know what the hell it is – says in a croak. It has too big ears and a pointy, big nose, along with a head that seems to be too big for its body. Its eyes are green, but not like Harry’s; they’re nearly lime green, odd and unblinking and somehow both ill fitting and in perfect accordance to the creature’s strange look.
Harry manages to stay silent, but only barely; shouting wouldn’t do him any good. The Durlseys would walk in here, freak out, leave him to deal with it on his own, and then punish him because of the thing getting in the house, even though Harry had nothing to do with it.
Downstairs, the door opens, and Harry hears Dudley say, “Mr. Mason, a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Mason, you look lovely tonight.”
Fucking shit.
“Hello,” Harry says anxiously.
