“You shouldn't fall in love with me,” Hyunjin said, brushing a strand of Jeongin’s long hair out of his face, caressing his cheek as he did so. Jeongin couldn’t help but lean in to the touch. “You can’t.”
“Because you’re human?” Jeongin asked, eyes flickering back to focus on the mortal’s face above him. He could get used to this, lying in the lap of a fragile being who didn’t fear him and who didn’t carry hatred in his heart. “Or because I'm a god?”
“No,” Hyunjin said with a sad smile. “Because this will be your downfall and I don’t want to see you fall from grace. I care too much for you to be able to bear the guilt of that… Besides, there is no point in loving the dead. You should focus on the living.”
