He wasn’t without the flame, Liam knew, but it was hidden deep down somewhere, buried where the light of day couldn’t find it and the shadows were too afraid to creep.

Vallis jolted at the grip on his wrist, not thinking to yank away from the touch before M’miv-a was pulling his arm towards himself, placing Vallis’s hand one fat pec and arching his back into the touch.

He didn’t even think to bristle at the mocking title, one that the capital officials had given him when he had first been captured.
