En el cual Draco es liberado de sus cargos como mortifago después de la guerra gracias al testimonio conjunto de Potter y la una vez rehén de la mansión Malfoy, Luna Lovegood. La vida parece extrañamente optimista para él a pesar de sus circunstancias
No es hasta meses después del juicio que la noticia de la muerte de Xenophilus Lovegood llega a sus oídos, según el artículo de “El profeta” nunca recuperó su salud después del secuestro de su hija.
Sintiendo una culpa terrible al escuchar que Luna quedará no solamente sin familia, sino también en la bancarrota, Draco toma la decisión impulsiva y francamente ridícula de apadrinar a la joven como su tutor económico y nuevo protector.
Aunque Lovegood no parece tener ningún tipo de animosidad hacia él y acepta su propuesta de forma bastante tranquila, los que sí tienen un problema al respecto son sus queridos amigos Gryffindor.
Especialmente el estúpido de San Potter.
