Aerion did not seem to care, glaring at him through damp lashes from where he was tightly bound. A gag prevented him from protesting or voicing any threats, but his eyes spoke enough.
He will never forgive him.

Aerion’s voice sounded nearly warm, a small wonder considering that he had cursed Maekar’s name until he was red faced the last time they spoke, after he had betrothed him to Lord Swann’s heir.
“May I introduce you to your grandson?”
Maekar’s gaze landed on the strapping boy in the nursemaid’s arms, whom he knew was not yet one year old but looked like he would be swinging a small wooden sword in no time. The plumpy lad did not spare him a glance, too busy trying to reach for the knight that stood nearby, a giant of a man.

At Ashford Meadow, Dunk is haunted by a smell he has not smelled in years, that of orange blossom, which was the smell that had triggered his first rut when he visited Starfall with ser Arlan.
aka: how unbeknownst to them, Dunk and Aerion triggered their first heat/rut, and Dunk only recognised his scent mate after punching him in the face at Ashford.
