His entire body jerks – not exactly upward, but just as if the sentence, the idea, might be enough to undo him.
“Next time?” he rasps, barely holding on.
Malcolm bites his way down Hayes’s throat, slow, claiming, cruelly gentle where it counts.
“Oh, there’s going to be a next time,”

Summary
It’s not actually that unexpected when the two of them shift, mid-fight, from punching to kissing.
Hayes himself has been hard since Malcolm threw the first punch; a reaction he can’t find in himself to be embarrassed by. This has really been where all their arguments, where all that tension, had been headed.
So when he’s finally dragged in – when he drags Malcolm in as well – their mouths crashing together, all fever-hot fury, he instinctively presses their hips together. For friction, sure, but also for the small part of him that wants proof he hasn’t been imagining the want simmering between them.
