“Even from the person who would go back to him in a heartbeat? Especially now?”
“Especially now,” Sal agreed with sadness in his voice. Lucy shut her eyes. “It’s dickish, and Kinard would probably break my nose for meddling, but I refuse to do this again. He’s in a good place right now, and Buckley is jumping feet first into extremely choppy waters. If the stars align and they find themselves back in each other’s orbit, then fine. They’re big boys and can do what they want. But I am not going to be the one to kick the can back down the road. Those two assholes have to figure it out for themselves.”
Buck transfers into the 122, under the captaincy of Sal Deluca. Sal and Lucy make the decision to not tell Tommy this detail.

Summary
In the wake of another bust during his apartment hunt, Buck winds up at the place he feels safest - with Tommy. A shared night ends in a shared morning, setting Buck on a path of realization and growth.
