Summary
Placed between his wife and his daughter, King Viserys I Targaryen made a decision he thought would appease everyone the night his granddaughter, Lucerys Velaryon, took the eye of his son, Aemond Targaryen. Lucerys would be punished but her eye would not be taken in return. Desiring to be seen as just as his grandfather was, Viserys would not beget violence with violence nor would he brush such actions to the side. The cracks in the family splintered further because of this-not only between the two factions but within the Blacks as well.
