Summary
An ordinary day becomes hell as Hiei is collared by some sort of seal. Not only does it sap all his energy, it reduces his physical strength to that of a mere human. He's sold off to the highest bidder, a man with a sadistic streak that wants nothing more than to break Hiei's spirit.
Meanwhile, Kurama and allies have to race against the clock to find Hiei before something horrible happens. Leads are scarce and Kurama fears that by time they find him, it may be too late.

Summary
After a school party, Kurama completes a summon circle and accidentally summons a dangerous demon. Hiei does not want to be there any more than Kurama wants him to be, so they must work together to find a way to get Hiei back home. Too bad, Hiei's teamwork skills leave much to be desired.
They'll have to go through rough patches, family issues, dangerous hunters, and an unfortunate accident before they even consider how deep their developing feelings go.

When Kurama was sixteen, he had one thing on his mind: saving his mother’s life by any means necessary. If his teachers knew his clever mind could be put to work for illegal schemes resulting in enough money for Shiori’s treatment, they’d be appalled. But it was what needed to be done – and to do it, he invented a new name and a brilliant persona, one that was older, wiser and feared…by most people.
Except, apparently, the short dark-haired boy who saved Kurama’s life once in a dark warehouse, spent a weekend in Kurama’s bedroom nursing a bullet wound to the arm, and then disappeared.
Years later, Kurama can’t get that boy out of his mind. Without the single-minded focus on saving his mother’s life, he’s equally horrified and intrigued by how much he misses that life of crime (and operating under the secure shadow his other identity gave him). When that same boy – now a man, still short, and full of a surprising amount of spite for Kurama – emerges out of an alley and offers Kurama a job, Kurama can’t refuse.
If for nothing else, he wants to know this young man’s name. And why he let Kurama save his life. And why he kissed Kurama in the dark and then vanished into thin air.
