Summary
The man’s glasses glint as he inclines his head, and then Nai is staggering back, ears ringing, gunpowder burning on the recycled air.
Nai coughs, a wet, sick noise. In front of him, the man lowers his gun—Nai never saw him raise it. “Vash?” Nai asks numbly, and it’s humiliating how small his voice sounds beneath the echo of the gunshot.
Vash hums, stalking forward, unmoved by the feeble tentacles Nai conjures around himself. “You look like Knives,” he says, and oh, that’s his brother’s voice, an unfamiliar taunt in it that makes Nai’s stomach hot and twisted. “Should I kill you in his place?”
