Were Akira Nishikiyama anyone else, you'd give a generic response: this is your job, saving lives is a doctor's highest calling, blah, blah, blah. Nishiki knows you better than the bullshit and you know the cameras in the room. There's no audio recording, Nishiki's a Tojo patriarch, and you're the angel of Todai. Who'd believe him if he told? So you move into position, your face hidden from the cameras in case a lip-reader ever reviews the footage.
"I'm the best damn trauma surgeon in Tokyo," you tell Nishiki. "and the yakuza ain't fucking my track record."

"What's not to get? So she likes her men with glasses, that's pretty tame." Nishiki pushes at his shoulder to jostle him, and he doesn't respond. "Kiryu? You have to keep talking. I can't—"
