Summary
At 18, Ichigo had imagined that 10 years later, he would be a translator in a famous publishing house, probably in Tokyo or some other big city.
Unfortunately, at the age of 28, despite two excellent degrees in his pocket, he was still stuck in Karakura, in his little village by the water.
Did he have a job related to his studies? Of course not. What he did have was a cafe to run, colleagues he adored, a kind of non-relationship with his ex (whom he couldn't seem to hate) who came by every now and then "for old times' sake", a dramatic family situation, and the terrible feeling of being on the sidelines of his own life.Until then, he'd managed to deal with these factors and convince himself that 'things were going well'. But then a new firefighter suddenly arrived from the other side of the country, and his first exchanges with him would consist mainly of... trying not to kill each other.
But yes, apart from that, his life was certainly a success.

Linda sets down her pen. "Because grief isn't an intellectual exercise, Jack. You can't think your way through it. You have to feel it."
"I don't want to feel it."
"I know."
