    It’s an automatic response, an old habit that Spock didn’t realize he still had, and it makes him not quite nostalgic, but something eerily close to sentimental when he considers it. The last time he and T’Pring had this sort of easy repartee was easily ten standard years ago, and the exchange of these particular phrases was on the night of their engagement. A night, if Spock recalls correctly, that was interrupted by his obligations and duty to Starfleet.

    Before Spock can consider it further and wonder if there are more amends to be made with T’Pring, she continues with her question. “How is he who is your husband?”

    Spock, to borrow a phrase from 20th century Earth’s English slang, bluescreens.
