    “Sorry,” Shōta mumbled. Hizashi’s hand trailed back up into Shōta’s hair.
    “You’re fine. Come on, my coffee’s going cold and I’m bored.” That was something else Shōta was never able to wrap his head around. No matter how far gone he was, no matter how deep into flashbacks he got, unless he couldn’t handle it, Hizashi was perfectly okay to act like everything was normal. He had learned, over the course of their relationship, that it wasn’t because he didn’t care or because he wasn’t sure how to handle it, but because it was worked best. When Hizashi had coddled him through it the first time, it made things worse, made Shōta feel like a child, and though his husband was airheaded at times, he was a quick learner.
