    Cody gets the news halfway through the night-cycle, roused from an uneasy sleep because his comm device is throwing a fit. He has half a mind to introduce the cheap plastoid casing to the steel wall of his bunk, at some speed. He settles for hitting the display button with more force than currently called for.
    The source of the irritating buzz becomes immediately clear. One of his batchmates, the one Cody gets the pleasure of seeing far less than he’d like, is trying to call him, blowing up their private message channel all the while. Cody picks up.

    “I, ah,” Fox begins. He glances at something behind Cody that the holocall doesn’t pick up. “Might have killed the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, vod.”
