When Jayce is banished from Piltover, he takes to the open seas on his Hexboat.
He's unprepared for the silence, for the solitude. He's even more unprepared for coming face-to-face with a Marai.
It's electric, it's unbelievable—it stirs a mindless sort of need in Jayce, as the shark vastaya is reduced to the animal, the beast, that his ancestors descended from. Because were Jayce in his landwalking skin, perhaps he'd hold greater control over his carnal needs. But he's not, and in his shifted form, the intoxicating blend of his own sharp, metallic blood, and the bright, cloying scent of his merling's arousal swilling with the current through his gills thrusts his control far from reach.
He's aroused, and as Viktor continues fingerfucking his cocksheath, he's thinking only with his animal hindbrain—and his animal hindbrain is thinking mate, rut, mine.

"I should have known you'd crack the code on the door one day," Jayce says without turning, reaching for a pen to highlight a section of his diagram.
"To crack it again would require you to change it in the first place."
"I shouldn't need to," Jayce snorts. "Besides, you haven't broken in for years."

It's been ten years since Jayce Giopara last saw Viktor. Ten years and he no longer knows what he's doing with his life. And now here is the Machine Herald, standing uninvited in his workshop offering to patch him up after his latest attempt to play Defender of Piltover, and that's nothing if not awkward.
So Jayce is older, maybe a little wiser, and the grey in his hair is making him sick with fear of the future and what his place in it is supposed to be. Viktor doesn't age, and for his part he thinks the grey streaks are hot. He'll die before he admits that though.
Or, the more things change, the more the pair of them drown. Maybe they can try drowning together.

Jayce keeps the smile plastered on his face as his hand comes down on a button.
A jolt of pleasure hits Viktor deep in his core, sudden like a flood as he chokes on his words, nervous system lighting up, sweeping outwards from the center to his back and legs, toes — not paws — curling from the force.
"Good," Jayce says, eyes flickering to the monitor where it'd emitted a slew of frantic beeps.
Viktor nearly dies from an augmentation gone awry.
He wakes up and finds Jayce, who fixes his botched repairs and a little more beyond that.
