    Summary

He’s losing himself as the seconds trickle by. So if Ratio allows him a piece of his heart, who is he to deny himself the fleeting seconds of pleasure that will dissipate with the dawning sky?

That’s selfish of him. It’s selfish, and Aventurine doesn’t give a damn. But he does, because he wouldn’t want Ratio to get the wrong idea and mourn him. But he doesn’t, because if Ratio is dumb enough to not despise Aventurine with every fiber of his being then he deserves the consequences of the Mother Goddess’ loving gaze.

“Come on, Ratio, what do you say?” The voice that comes out is—odd, torn like the rest of him. “You could spare some truth, perhaps, to a dying man?”

There’s a sharp inhale. Then, “You will not die. Is the note I gave you not proof enough?”

Of all his gambles, the one most certain is his feelings towards death. But maybe he’s starting to believe in dichotomies and change, for the closer he approaches the end the more he realizes that life isn’t so bad after all.

How foolish of him. Nihility’s taint cares not for such sentimentality.

    But Ratio does.
