    Izuku Midoriya walks into the room with footsteps far heavier than usual, with haunted eyes and a shadowed expression, and yet he makes not a sound when he steps in through the giant doorway. His tie is mangled, a promise he made to their class back when they were first years, and yet he does not smile or laugh nor offer a single greeting, only a vague nod in their direction as he slinks down his row, settling into his seat like a boy awaiting death’s row.

    And class 3-A cannot help but be worried, because Izuku isn’t acting like Izuku at all, yet he’s clearly not acting.

    Or: Grieving the second time, somehow, is so much worse.
