Her eyes narrow at him, “Shane… come on. You find out your situationship of years is bringing a date and you send me a last minute invitation? You’re telling me those two things are not related?” Shane opens his mouth as if to defend himself, but Rose continues, “It’s fine! I don’t mind being a pawn, that’s what friends are for! And I especially don’t mind an excuse to get dressed up and drink free alcohol!”
“Wait, how did you hear he was bringing a date?” Shane asks.
“The same way you did. The rumors got around that infamous ladies' man Ilya Rozanov had finally been tied down!” Shane winced at that. “You hockey players are worse than housewives, I swear!” She laughs.
OR: Shane and Ilya go to a fundraising gala and start competing on who can make the other more jealous.
