Summary
The Bridgerton family has been ridden with scandal - after Colin’s almost elopement, Anthony’s failed engagements and Eloise’s scandal, only one person can fix their reputation however she refuses to have anything to do with the family. As penance for being Lady Whistledown, the Queen gives Penelope an ultimatum to either wed Lord Bridgerton to help them return to respectability, or she reveals who she is to the Ton and then sends her into exile. Penelope has no intention on helping them get back into society preferring exile to marrying Anthony.
Lady Danbury to the rescue.

Penelope had to get out. She felt like she was dying every time she had to return to Featherington house, and now with the heir race well underway with her sisters, she knew she had to get out. Penelope was no fool, she knew living with one of her sisters as the new Lady Featherington would be interminable and she’d likely be kicked out and sent to the country – or worse, Ireland in exile. However, Penelope had been planting seeds and she had two plans – hopefully one of them would work.
The first one involved Lady Danbury and a desperate plea for asylum – before she wound up in one.
The second one involved telling Anthony Bridgerton she was in love with him and wanted to be his wife.

Summary
Anthony Bridgerton, ninth Viscount of the Bridgerton family had it all. He had the loving family. He had the wealth and respect of his peers. He had (with great effort), gotten his bride – the wallflower Penelope Featherington. The fact that he had swiped her from his clueless brother had made the match so much more desirable and titillating. Watching Penelope’s feelings for Colin slowly fade into nothingness and futility had thrilled him beyond belief, and on their wedding night he had claimed her hard and fast, ensuring that Penelope never doubted who she belonged to.
As Anthony watched Penelope bid goodbye to Colin, an idea began to form in his head. His wife wanted – needed – to have gentle lovemaking, something that was quite beyond Anthony’s capacity to give. He needed it hard and rough.
Colin on the other hand wouldn’t know how to fuck hard if his life depended on it.
This could work.

Anthony Bridgerton pulled his head out from under the blanket and looked over from where his face was between Penelope Featherington’s legs, and her hands were entangled in his hair. “What does it fucking look like I’m doing?”
“But…but…I always thought that Penelope was in love with Colin! Why are YOU here? She was meant for Colin! What does Colin think of this…affair? Have you told Colin?” Portia sputtered. “Where is Colin?”
