But when a distortion portal appears before her camp one night, she finds herself sent back in time with an important mission - somewhere in the land of Hisui, there is another human who seeks to use the power of the gods for his own ends. Dawn must find and stop him before he can get a chance.

    If only Giratina had bothered to explain any of that before she ran smack dab into Volo and told him that she was from the future.

    Dawn is sent back in time by Giratina instead of Arceus. Everything proceeds to go sideways from there.
