Summary
It’s a beautiful day at the farm. Clark is spending it with his ma, helping out with some chores, when he hears something strange in the barn. And for some reason, the cat is quite worked up about it.
For Superbat Week 2024, Day 6: It's an AU kind of day

“Calm down, girl,” Clark says, shushing the displeased ball of fur in his arms. “It’s just a mouse.”
Hopefully it’s not too badly injured, he’d hate having to put it out of its misery even if it’s for the best. He spots a drop of red soaking into the hay and catches the iron scent of blood in the air, and his gaze lands on the—
Oh. What is—? That’s not a mouse at all.
The little black shape stumbles away from Clark and doesn’t stop until it reaches the wall. It turns, and a tiny but seemingly human face peers up at him with wide, fierce eyes. Its—his chest flutters with panicked breaths, small limbs trembling with fear and adrenaline. Oh, right. Clark is still holding the cat that tried to eat him.

Summary
There were a lot of things Kian was used to. There were also a lot of things he had come to expect.
Being followed and hunted for sport happened to be one of them. Monsters, people, wildlife—it was something to be expected living life on the road as a wayward vagabond.
One of the things he hadn’t quite accounted for, however, was for said hunter to be some kind of wingless fae-like creature.
He even less expected to be woken up by that same hunter in the middle of the night with the tiniest sword (if one could even call it that) he’d ever seen being swung around haphazardly and terrified in his direction.
