I actually wanted to do a good job for once on this planetary survey, so I did a ton of preparation for every possible contingency. (And to cover for my various glitches.) But my extensive preparation was a total waste of effort.
Because the exact moment I actually went wrong was several hundred cycles ago when I became accursedly acquainted with one overpowered Asshole Research Transport and one bloodthirsty Chaotic Shit Unit.
