James wasn’t answering him. Wasn’t helping him out. Wasn’t doing… anything, really, except stare at Regulus with a peculiar expression on his face. Mouth slightly ajar, lips parted. Hazel eyes dazed and slightly glazed over. The dappled rays of sunlight spilling through the trees a dancing mosaic of gold on his skin.
“James? You okay?"
James cleared his throat. “Yeh. Yes.”
“What is it?"
“I—um—I know this is entirely inappropriate.” James cast out his arm, indicating the chaos around them. The corpses littered at their feet. Sticky streams of blood painting the autumn leaves the colour of sunset. “But I don’t think you’ve ever been more beautiful. And I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything as much as I want to kiss you right now.”
