“Hannibal watches as Will opens his mouth, attempting to get anything out besides tiny moans and fractured syllables, but nothing comes out. He wants to ask Hannibal why he’s wheezing, how bad their injuries are, where they are, even, but absolutely nothing could escape from his brain. His chest feels horrifically tight suddenly, like the words traveled down his brain stem to wrap around his lungs instead of leaving his mouth. He continues to try, to try and get even a single word out, but there's nothing besides, wheezing, shaking gasps.”
