It's not that Jayce doesn't appreciate it when people admire Viktor. Friend or foe, he always enjoys seeing that ravenous look of envy darken their eyes when they realize how lucky Jayce is to have him. How beautiful Viktor is. He wants them to look. Wants to see the pain and grief in their eyes when they realize what they will never have. He wants them to ache.
But some people don't know their place. They look for too long. Get too bold, too curious. And Jayce knows the look well, the hunger in the kid's eyes. The naivety to think he could ever have a chance. He slides a proprietary arm around Viktor’s waist, a clear message.
Mine.
Then he smiles, slow and unsettling.

Summary
