That the whole ordeal was just an incident potentially involving wanderers, that their deaths were collateral damage.

Since then, I’ve acquired a new hunting partner who just so happens to live in the apartment above mine, made several secret trips into the N109 zone and now have a freakishly handsome gangster of some sort on my tail, a secondary job as a bodyguard to some freaky famous artist that insists I always be around when he stubs his toes, and a sort-of fling with my childhood-friend-doctor. So yeah, I think either I’m pretty much going crazy, or something happened in that explosion that made me so irresistible that I have four guys chasing after me. Yeah, I’m delusional.

You feign haughtiness as you stare down at him on his knees. “Beg,” you command.
You think he’s not going to do it— that he’s about to call your bluff. You watch as one corner of his mouth lifts into a smile and he throws his head back to laugh breathily. He presses a single kiss to the exposed skin of your thigh and you wait in anticipation. The silence is almost overwhelming. You can hear your heartbeat thudding in your ears and the air between the two of you is heated and still.
And then Rafayel groans, resting his warm face against your leg. “Please,” he whispers.
