The merman's hands are bound in thick ropes, even from this distance he can see that the powerful, glimmering tail is tightly constricted in a space too small and cruel for something so unearthly, his muscular torso that is peppered with shimmering scales and tail are bound in barbed wires, making the deities every movement and breath push barbs deeper into his skin, threatening to peel of scales, it’s a stark contrast to the freedom of the sea he belongs to, and it’s an admonition of the cruelties of humans, no other species could be so inhuman to cause this damage.
TLTR: The foxes are pirates who meet Neil the merman and have some adventures together while facing their common enemy

Summary
Andrew's life is quiet. It's boring.
He struggles with what little he has, and even though he feels empty inside, he perseveres.
He endures Kevin's yelling at rehearsals and his twin's scathing stares while day after day he fills the bottom drawer of his nightstand with songs he can't even reread.
He drinks coffee with more sugar than recommended and enough marshmallows to drown out any thoughts.
As I said, boring.
And that's how it should go on, but he had to come back, making her chest race, her mouth go dry, and her thoughts consumed by the blue of his eyes.
No matter how much she denied it, she couldn't stop what she felt when she saw him.Or, Andrew and Neil meet while one is living in foster care and the other is running from his past. One day they had to separate without warning, and almost a decade later, they find each other again.

Summary
At Thanksgiving dinner, Neil gets to Andrew faster. The result isn't any better. Neil is still a martyr, and Andrew struggles like never before to insist that he feels nothing.
Because there was someone waiting for Andrew upstairs, and they got Neil instead.
[Authors note: Sorry guys I'm re-writing this fic as of 2025 I have improved so much as a writer I simply have to do it (and for continuity reasons so I can keep proper notes this time). Later chapters I'll likely make more mild revisions to.]
