There’s a strangeness in the air. Rey can smell it, like the charge after an electrical storm. She can practically even taste it, the residual energy buzzing across her tongue like a drug. She shivers.
And then she sees Kylo, standing several feet away, wand still clutched tightly, chest heaving. His eyes burn into her like dark coals, reflecting soft, glowing embers as they rain down from the surrounding trees that had caught fire.
In a moment of pure delirium, Rey thinks he's the most terrifyingly beautiful thing she’s ever seen.
He takes her breath away.

“How do you know that?” he asked, and for once he looked like he was genuinely curious to hear her answer. Which, if he wasn’t pissing her off so much, she would have answered much nicer than she did.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because I’m their daughter?” she said sarcastically, “They had a good reason for giving me up, you’ll see.”
Rey is travelling the world to find her birth parents after her guardian Maz passes way. She was excited to rediscover herself and more importantly, where she came from. The only thing she wasn't excited about, was the fact that Ben Solo was tagging along for the journey, his pen and notebook in hand.

With earphones jammed in her ears, Rey sings at the top of her voice and pushes the heavy lawnmower against the overgrown grassland that is her back yard. Maz, her foster mom, had told Rey that “if she didn’t get off her lazy ass and do something productive, she would get her phone confiscated for the next month.” So, here she is: sweating profusely in the smallest pair of shorts she could find, trying her damn hardest to cut down the grass that hasn’t been mowed in like, ten freakin’ years.
A nerdy Ben Solo moves in next door to Rey. She doesn't like him. She doesn’t.

Our tale begins when intrepid reporter Rey Niima heads to church intent on confessing her sins as research for a story. She never suspects that her partner, the infuriatingly handsome and perpetually smug Ben Solo, is trapped on the other side of the mesh listening to Rey admit more than either of them bargained for. Through a series of mishaps and misunderstandings Rey accidentally confesses to Ben Solo (who was just looking for a place to hide!) and all hell breaks loose.
A modern Reporters/Vigilante AU where Ben and Rey are reluctant partners who have frequent run-ins with the covert Resistance group and Ben’s vigilante alter ego: Kylo Ren (who Rey has a raging crush on). When someone they love is threatened, Solo and Niima must work through their ongoing feud and excruciating sexual tension to expose the truth.
