Summary
It doesn’t matter that he gets virtually no sleep, or that his grades are at an all-time low. It doesn’t matter that he jumps at absolutely everything and that he thinks he’s going crazy. And it certainly doesn’t matter that his parents are back in town. Non of that matters because life has never been better for Steve Harrington… at least that’s what he tells himself anyway.
-or-
I actually put Steve through hell.

“I’m buying him a hundred flowers because I have to win.”
“Win,” Robin repeats dubiously.
“He’s trying to out-boyfriend me! He can’t do that! That’s my thing!”
“I don’t think you have a monopoly on being a boyfriend–”
“–being the best boyfriend,” he corrects. “He wrote me a whole album, Robin. He wrote me a love album. It’s not even metal. It was sappy and cheesy and amazing and he gave it to me with flowers. So I have to try harder.”
“First of all, he’s written you songs before–”
“–and I love every single one of them–”
“Second of all,” she stresses, talking over him. “Does he know it’s a competition? Or did you decide it was? Is something in your little jock brain telling you it needs to be one?”
“No!” He angrily throws another pretty pink bouquet in the cart. “He told me ‘your move, Harrington.’ Who does that??”

Summary
Despite the literal horrors, Eddie was doing pretty damn well. He'd spent months suffering in the Upside Down and come back out the other side alive and mostly in one piece. The only thing that had really been irking him recently was Steve Harrington.
Eddie had only seen him once, when Hopper first dragged him out of the tunnels, heaving for air under Eddie’s weight. Dustin had practically materialized in front of him and hugged him so hard it hurt, sobs wracking his body just as hard as they had the last time Eddie had seen him. Steve was a yard away, silent and straight-faced, and they made hardened eye contact over Dustin’s shaking shoulders.
It struck Eddie that Steve didn’t exactly look happy to see him. He wasn’t really expecting the guy to fall at his knees or jump for joy or anything, but this cold sort of indifference was not really what he had envisioned. Honestly, Eddie had thought things were pretty good between them pre-bataggedon. They even had Hobbit-centric plans for when the world was done ending, but clearly something happened that put a cramp in whatever good thing they had going.
OR Eddie is found alive, and it doesn't magically fix all of Steve's complicated emotions about him.
