Summary
Eight years ago, two lovers sought refuge from the world in a church nestled in the corridors of the Backstreets.
It would become a place for their wedding. A multitude of nooks and crannies offered ample shelter against the Backstreets dangers. How's a wanderer to say no? So the vagabonds settled.
Before that, it served as the last stop for an offshoot family of Bloodfiends.
A vacuous basin of human despair and a reservoir for their appetite—for the Bloodfiends, it was perfect for holding a feast, the likes of which no man ever imagined. They had always preferred their meat fresher than the rest. An unfortunate pair of lovers, who'd forgotten the phrase 'paradise', had their bliss snatched and added onto the buffet. That's all there is to their story.
The lovers died, physically and metaphorically. In the end, the term 'love' didn't amount to shit. Such incidents are commonplace, leaving none the richer save the table guests.
But.
When they crossed paths eight years later. Her ripped ribbon and the faded blue eyes and the smile she wore for him then—
"Don't l-look at me."
He looked at her. God, did he look. It's what he wants to do forever, even if it kills him.
