Doflamingo takes two days to make certain everything is Just So, and at the same time allows dear Law just a bit of respite, some peace and quiet down in a dark dungeon cell to recover from his injuries, build back up a bit of strength.
He’ll need it, after all.

One policeman knelt in front of her, snapped his fingers a couple of times. “Anybody home in there? Miss? Hello?”
“Typical,” the other snorted, standing over them. “Just another loony wandering where they shouldn’t.”
“I dunno, might just be the cold that has her out of it.” A note of something wrong crept into the officer’s voice, and Kristen felt more than saw his fingers move to nudge back the hood of her coat. “Kinda pretty, don’t you think?”

Ryan kept his gaze on the computer monitor, even though it only displayed a blank report form. Across the small front room of the sheriff’s office, his deputy huffed, continuing to escort the town’s newest law-breaker through the rear door to their pair of holding cells. Further frantic protests turned muffled, and when the door swung shut Ryan couldn’t hear anything else at all.
One side of his mouth curled up in a smirk.

At the back of the car, he heard a bitten-off shriek.
