Summary
Mira and Zoey knew what she was was, Mira and Zoey the demon hunters knew what she was and had their weapons drawn, and Rumi’s voice had just threatened the Hunmoon they were sworn to protect.
She should run- should act like the demon she was and run away from the demon hunters despite how desperately she wanted to be near them.
She should find Jinu. He was a demon too, a demon who hated what he was and understood Rumi, who had promised to make the Saja Boys lose tonight.
But Mira and Zoey were right there- Mira and Zoey.
How could she run away from the people she wanted nothing more than to spend her life close to.
She had been so close, so close to finally being able to fully lean into Zoey’s hugs, to taking off her long-sleeves during morning treadmill runs with Mira, to going to that damn bathhouse with them.
(She had been so close to being something good enough to let them see.)
She couldn't run from them. (Rumi was tired, so tired.)

This was the moment Rumi would be free. The Honmoon shifted gold; and then gold thread rose from the floor of the stage, reaching Rumi's arms and looping around them, slowly wrapping around her legs as well. She lifted her hands in wonder and hope.
Something shifted, a low groan as if the world itself protested.
Celine would never forget the sound of her scream.

Summary
Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are demon hunters. This means they are trained to fight in many different ways so they can fight all manners of demons. Their connection to the Honmoon means they can survive a fall of thousands of feet so long as they gave it conscious effort.
Unfortunately, something that both of these also gave the girls was a sense of invulnerability when is came to human threats. And when you're a famous popstar that can be a dangerous thing.
Even more unfortunately was the rude awakening these girls were about to receive.
(Forgive me I'm going to be horrible with keeping these characters true to their original material but I will try my best.)

"Wait," Zoey starts, "We aren't performing that. We're not-"
On the screen, Mira sees herself and Zoey, clearly not actually them, moving through the choreography Mira made, and Rumi looks so lost that it stabs into Mira's heart.
It's not us, Mira thinks, Rumi has to know it's not us.
Zoey and Mira both say Rumi's name as they watch Demon-Zoey shove Rumi, and Mira's only thought as she runs is that Rumi thinks it's them.
They make it onstage just as the demon version of themselves pull at Rumi's jacket, revealing her shoulders before ripping it off completely.
Mira can't remember the last time she saw Rumi wearing anything that showed her shoulders. Even in rehearsal and training, Rumi only ever wore shirts with longer sleeves and hoodies, but as her jacket falls, Mira sees them.
Patterns.
The lights go out once the song ends, and Demon-Zoey and Demon-Mira join Jinu at the end of the stage.
