Summary
Since its creation, the virus had only known three directives: survive, propagate, destroy. These were the edicts of its programmers, who sought malware more virulent, cunning, and adaptive than any which had come before. It entered the Digital Circus with the intention of conquest, but found itself unexpectedly bound by its rules and games, forced to assume a human identity or be erased by the artificial architect of its new home.
The virus hadn’t anticipated what would come of this deception: humans extending their hands in friendship; adventures that entertained without destruction; and an alarming affinity with the same ringmaster who threatened its own destruction. It - now she - had even received a name.

Summary
Kinger accidentally deletes Caine, but as the Ringmaster welcomes death, he wakes up in a world he forgot he was a part of. A human used by C&A and fed the lie that he was an artificial intelligence living in a world he created, when in fact, none of it was real. As Caine is left to piece together his broken memories and remember his life on earth, his paths cross with the humans used to create the mind files of his past circus members, helping him answer the question, "What is my purpose?"
A/N: Trying to update chapters frequently and finish this before episode 9 comes out!

Jax mustered up the energy to travel back to his desk, plopped down in his chair, and threw the notebook down in front of him. It fell open to the page labeled CAINE’S KINKS.
He grabbed a pen and tapped the tip of it against the page a few times, before making a few edits.
This is not a love story. This is a revenge story.

The author is more interested in the idea of Caine and Jax being narrative foils than she is in the idea of them having a genuinely abusive relationship. This story includes some spicy bits that are easily skipped - though you might miss some slapstick and character development if you choose to avoid them. This story is mostly comedy, though that might just be to make the tragedy hit all the harder. Caine has been running the circus for many years without a break, eventually something is bound to go wrong. He’s desperately trying to find the exit in the code at the humans requests, no matter how hard he tries he never seems to find it. The pressure of it all is becoming too much… no one believes him when he says he’s trying. Will the programmers ever respond to his daily reports of glitches and problems? What will happen to Caine? Will they find an exit? Who knows…
